Thipkyanchi Rangoli – Episode 188 – Written Update and Episode Review

I know you don’t need me but I can’t resist wishing you to look for me everywhere,
Just the way how you are the only person, I allow in my every matter to interfere.
Staying away from you has now become nightmarish,
I wonder if you will ever see that I have fallen for even your antics so childish.

The episode begins with the scene continuation at Deepali’s place with Shashank and the Kukki gang. Apurva continues to call Deepali out for her suicide attempt. While Deepali tries to assure everyone that it is not what they are thinking. She agrees that she may have been the reason why everything messed up but that wasn’t her intention. She didn’t purposely do anything.

Apurva asks her to leave everything aside and puts forth a question, asking Deepali if she even loves her daughter? She gets emotional as she brings up her own past to make Deepali see what her one decision could have done to Ovi. She shares how her life was ruined when her mother chose to stay away from her all these years. She furiously questions Deepali that what was the need for her to leave Ovi the way her own mother had left her. She asks her how she could even think about it, emphasizing what made her not think about Ovi even once.

Shashank holds Apurva’s hand, providing her silent comfort when bringing up her past leaves her struggling to talk.

Kukki stops Apurva, asking her not to say anything to Deepali at the moment as her health is still in a delicate condition but Deepali asks him to let her talk. Deepali assures Apurva that she is not going to do anything of that sort again if that’s what she is afraid of. She admits that she is going to try and mend the broken relations, revealing that she is going to apologize to Babi Aatya. She adds that she will leave with Ovi to the U.S. forever after Bhaskar and Babi Aatya’s wedding.

Apurva chides her, letting her know that everything can’t always work the way she wants. She asks her if she feels that Babi Aatya is going to be all ecstatic and agree to the wedding after what has happened. She tells Deepali that Babi Aatya has her self-respect.

Deepali says that it’s not what she meant to say – Bhaskar and Vidya Tai have been in love with each other for so many years and to see him going away from her… she might also do something like what I have done.

Deepali’s words get Apurva furious, making her yell that Babi Aatya will never do anything of that sort – she is never… never doing anything of that sort. She is strong. She is a real fighter. She is not like you, get it? She doesn’t run away from her problems.

Deepali adds that she has to apologize for what has gone wrong because of her which has caused Babi Aatya so much pain. She tells them that she is going to request Babi Aatya to forgive her and give Bhaskar his share of love.

But Apurva refuses. She tells Deepali to just take care of herself, adding that they are there to take care of Babi Aatya. She asks her not to make any requests to Babi Aatya now and just let her live peacefully.

Shashank supports Apurva, repeating what she has just said. He requests her not to request anything from Babi Aatya on the behalf of Kanitkars. Apurva tones down herself and asks Deepali to take care of herself before they leave.

At Kanitkar’s residence, Kukki, Amey and Sumi try to make Apurva understand that she should have been in control in front of Deepali as her mental health is not at its best at the moment and it would be problematic if she takes a wrong step again. Apurva, however, sticks to her point that she needed to say what she did to Deepali today, adding that she could do it again if someone didn’t call her out today.

Much to everyone’s surprise, Shashank supports Apurva, saying that Deepali should have thought before taking such a step, adding what would have happened to Ovi if they couldn’t save Deepali. He says that just a sorry is not enough. He assures Apurva that he feels that she has done the right thing and leaves, leaving Kukki and Amey giggling.

Sumi asks them what has happened and the duo tells her that this is the first time when Shashank has praised something that Apurva has done, making Sumi smile as well. The trio covers Apurva in a circle as they start singing, Radha Radha Radha, Tujha Shashank Kuthe Gela Radha. Apurva enjoys their happy faces and the trio is in their own singing zone until Apurva joins them. The moment she starts singing, the trio disappears.

At night, Shashank catches Apurva packing her stuff. He stands in disbelief at the huge bags that she has picked. She starts stuffing her skincare products and pillows in her bag. Shashank shakes his head and starts adjusting the bedsheet when she pulls it to herself.

Shashank – What? You are going in the room that is right next to ours but looking at your packing, it seems like you are going trekking to the Himalayas.

Apurva – Khadoos, these are the essential things. I need them.

Shashank – Essential things? Like this bedsheet is an essential thing?

Apurva – Khadoos, I can’t sleep without this blanket.

Shashank – Fine. What about these pillows? There are pillows in Babi Aatya’s room.

Apurva – Yes but this… I NEED this pillow every night. And this… I need this one when I sleep on my sides.  And this… I need this one behind my back when I have to sit. You getting it? This hair oil… I don’t sleep without a hair massage every night with this oil. This cream… I apply this cream every night before sleeping. These are my essential things. How will I keep Babi Aatya a company if I have to keep coming back to our room for these things?

Shashank – Fine. Fine. Nothing is left, right?

Apurva – Nah. I have taken everything that I will need.

Shashank – That means… I am not needed, right?

Apurva hides her smile that his words bring over her lips and turns to him, silently asking him what he is trying to say but when Shashank instantly covers up and changes the topic, asking her if she has taken her books, she can’t help but frown.

Apurva – I don’t want to.

Shashank brings her book and puts it in her bag despite Apurva’s refusal – keep this book or else you will make an excuse that you didn’t study because you didn’t have books. Understood? – adjusting his glasses.

Apurva mimics him as she sarcastically replies – understood. Visibly annoyed, she mutters that she does not want to study. She finishes the packing and drags her bag near the door but stops at a distance.

Shashank crosses his hands across his chest as he asks her if something is left.

Apurva denies but seeing her lingering around, he readily steps closer – what? Do you want the teddy? I will do one thing. I will cut my hand and will courier it to Babi Aatya’s room? Will that work?

Apurva – Nice joke. Precisely like you.

Shashank – Thank you.

Apurva – BORING. Babi Aatya must be waiting for me. I will get going now. Goodbye and good night.

Before Apurva could leave, Shashank reminds her to come to meet him every night before sleeping, making her raise her brows and causing him to be conscious for yet another time.

Shashank –  Just to tell  me what all that you have studied the whole day.

Apurva – I won’t.

Shashank – Why?

Apurva – Because I… am NOT going to study. I am going there to accompany Babi Aatya. I won’t get time to study there. I am NOT going to study.

Shashank – Wait. Wait. You can’t go like this. Say it first.

Apurva – I am not going to. Listen, Khadoos… right now, Babi Aatya is my priority. She is going through a crisis now. Think about her, no? How do I study now?

Shashank – Look, Apurva. Such situations keep coming in life. Are you going to give these excuses every time? Not going to work for me.

Apurva – GOING TO WORK FOR ME. Don’t put that knowledge… discipline and all of those things on me every time. Everyone is worried about Babi Aatya and you are worried about my studies? Really? I am going. LET ME GO.

Seeing her struggling with the bags, he asks her if she is capable of doing that.

Apurva – I CAN and I WILL manage. GET ASIDE.

While Apurva struggles to carry the bags, Shashank reaches the window and watches her. He gestures, asking her if she needs his help but she turns her head away. Once she is out of his sight, Shashank can’t help but smile at the crazy wife that he has got.

The next morning, Apurva helps Babi Aatya to get ready and the duo shares some sweet moments. Later she brings coffee for Babi Aatya and so does Shashank. Babi Aatya points at the coffee mug in her hand. After a while, she brings a meal for Babi Aatya and feeds her despite her unwillingness to eat, by putting her through a sweet emotional blackmail that if she didn’t eat, then she and Vitthu Baba will start singing in Babi Aatya’s room and won’t even let her sleep.

The whole moment gets witnessed by Suva Aai who has brought food for Babi Aatya as well but she is content to watch Apurva taking care of Babi Aatya so well.

Later, Apurva starts reading aloud a motivational piece from a book despite her struggle to read Marathi. The Kanitakars listen to her, standing outside the room. Babi Aatya and the Kanitkars standing outside the room can’t control their laughter at the hilarious mistakes Apurva makes while pronouncing certain words.

The Kanitkars appreciate and admire Apurva’s efforts to distract Babi Aatya from her grief. They all walk inside and enjoy Apurva’s reading session.

Shashank stands outside the room, pondering over the way love has left Babi Aatya broken – Babi Aatya is so strong but what has love done to her. Does love make people weak? In that case, it’s good that I don’t love Apurva but do I really not love her? Then why does her absence make me restless? Why have I started liking her craziness? I can’t even stand the mere thought of living without Apurva. If this is love… then I have to get a grip on myself right now. If Apurva really leaves after a year… would I be bowed down beneath the woes that this love will bring like Babi Aatya?

M Y   T A K E

A light episode after a series of heavy ones if skipped the initial couple of minutes.

Radha Radha Radha,
Tujha Shashank Kuthe Gela Radha!

He must be somewhere right there, the Kukki gang. Look around and you will probably spot him. Hiding in a corner and secretly watching and adoring his wife from afar has become his guilty pleasure that he can’t quite admit to anyone but we… are seeing everything.

How about we make a Whatsapp group and give each other the updates that we know? There are certain things that only you guys can see. There are certain things that only we can see. Our zeal and excitement for Mr. and Mrs. Kanitkar seems on the same level so why not just make a new gang? We can name it “The Khadoos-Shishta-Analyzer gang”. What say? 😅

That aside, the way the Kukki gang disappeared when Apurva started singing though! Haha. Is this how you support your gang member, huh? But then again, I get it. Ears are important and must be taken care of. They can’t be trusted with Apurva’s singing. 😭😂

I did say that I won’t touch the Apurva-Deepali thing in this one because I said everything in the previous one but I appreciate the Kukki gang, especially Amey for bringing up that Deepali is not in the right state of mind to take anyone’s harsh words.

I have always liked Amey so much. He seems like such a sorted guy. Does his work. Enjoys life to the fullest. Loves his wife. Entertains his family. Knows when to get serious and when to stay casual.

Shashank supporting Apurva in Deepali’s matter wasn’t surprising and I don’t think it is because he is falling for her or has fallen for her which is making everything that she does seem right to him. Nah. I don’t think that’s the case here.

Shashank – from the very beginning – has been someone who can cross his lines at least verbally when it comes to his family. We have seen it time and again with the way he talks to Dr. Kaushik so it was quite his character to stand by Apurva in what she said to Deepali because quite honestly, I do think that he might have said a lot of things to Deepali had she not been that critical and Apurva hadn’t been there but since Apurva said everything, it saved Shashank from saying anything.

Mr. and Mrs. Kanitkar’s bedroom conversation was fun.

The question laced with absolute anguish – I am not needed, am I? told the miserable tale of Mr. Kanitkar’s so-in-love heart but Mr. Kanitkar is a smart man. He lets his heart say what it wants to because he has got a brain that can make sure to twist the words uttered by his heart in a way that he can easily conceal the confessions of his heart.

He lets his heart talk because he has got a brain that can encrypt its words and protect them from her eyes.

Smart Scientist!

I particularly loved the window bit. It was so sweet. The bedroom and the window bits were beautiful. Quite romantic if you ask me.

The way Apurva was just lingering around because physically, she can stay anywhere but her heart wants to stay only around Shashank.

The way Shashank was making attempt after attempt to get her to say that she needs him, she will miss him, she has grown too fond of staying with him to stay with someone else, and maybe just… that she will think about him when she is not around him and the way he was making excuses to cover it all up gave away that Shashank is hopelessly in love with her and he can neither hide his feelings nor confess them.

Their sweet longing for each other that does not have the liberty to find their voice is strangely appealing.

Apurva and Babi Aatya’s bond has been one of my favorites from the day when Babi Aatya had locked herself in her room and Apurva had ended up not just making her open the door but also asking if she could address her as her mother. This duo has been one of my favorites since then.

The whole reading session was both, good and funny. Good because of the content, funny because of the hilarious pronunciation mistakes.

I equally adore Apurva and Vitthu Baba together. The quick, harmless taunt that he made to Suva Aai regarding Apurva was such a small but significant moment. He might have stayed quiet when Suva Aai was scolding Apurva but he had that thing in his mind and he made sure to smartly bring it up on the first chance that he got. Just says how truly he adores Apurva.

Shashank’s monologue reminded the viewers and even his own self of something that we both kind of conveniently forgot about.

The contract.

And we both can’t seem to help but wish to eliminate the existence of this contract from this world because their own little world is too beautiful to be allowed to get ruined by anything. Their world doesn’t have a space for this contract.

As I slowly acknowledge and accept my feelings,
Turning a blind eye to my logical brain’s constant warnings,
I can’t help but realize how deeply I have fallen for you,
That my heart shatters with even the mere thought of a life without you.

But my brain reminds me that I have to get a grip on my emotions.
Reminding me that we got married on conditions.
You will leave me alone after a year,
And my heart and I will be left to live with tears.

Either don’t make me fall for you or promise to stay with me forever,
Or else, these feelings without your presence will leave me broken beyond repair.

Broken without repair!

This is completely my perspective. You can have a different one. I would love to hear if you do. Like I always say, we can always agree to disagree.

Hearing from you makes me want to write more, better and faster so please don’t hesitate to share your feedback in the comment section. I have particularly designed it for you.
