Thipkyanchi Rangoli – Episode 230 – Episode Review

I am not here to justify what your father said to you back then,
I am here to make you aware of Mai’s yen!
The yen for you that didn’t fade with time but only intensified,
I beg you to meet her once before her delicate feelings commit suicide.

Yet another beautiful one. I guess, my reviews start with the same line these days. Can’t help it. The episodes have been too beautiful not to acknowledge.

| The Loyal Longing

From the beginning till the end of the episode, the three words that my mind constantly thought of were – the loyal longing.

The loyal longing that has been cursed to stay silent and hidden. The loyal longing that does not have the liberty to step out in the light for everyone to see. The loyal longing that is too loyal to fade with time. The loyal longing!

The loyal longing of Kukki for his Avanti.

What an emotionally overwhelming moment it was to watch Kukki going down memory lane to visit his beautiful past and having to return back to his awful present.

Avanti was the one to make Vikas… Kukki. I could see how honest he was when he said that there hasn’t been a single day when he did not miss her.  His Kukki Gang is the light of the Kanitkar family. There goes not a single day without someone mentioning the Kukki gang and every time someone does that – every time someone calls him Kukki – the memories of his Avanti come back to him.

My heart wept a little with Kukko today as I realized how tough it has been for him all along. The rest of the Kanitkars probably could have escaped the tormenting pain of losing Avantika for a day or two but Kukki – never. Even if he desperately might have needed a break, I don’t think he could ever get one.

Kukki.

Kukki.

Kukki.

Long as he cannot have an escape from his name, he wouldn’t have an escape from his Avanti’s memories and since he would never be able to run away from his name, he would never be able to run away from his Avanti’s memories.

The loyal longing of Mai for her Anu.

Mums are Mums. They seldom have a heart that is capable of hardening if it’s their kids in the question.

Sure, what Avantika did cannot be excused.

Sure, Mai herself did get upset with her for a long time.

Sure, Mai did not want to look back at her Anu after she didn’t think twice before insulting her father who was trying to hold their shaking relationship.

All of it did happen but… Mums are Mums. They seldom have a heart that is capable of hardening if it’s their kids in the question.

Mai couldn’t hold onto her anger. After a significant while, all that she was left with was an intense longing for her daughter that she knew she couldn’t see again.

The intense longing that gradually and eventually transformed into a loyal longing! The longing that she was going to be loyal to for the rest of her life.

The loyal longing of Avantika for her family.

Avantika was quick to get mad when Apurva revealed her identity. Her hands had worked faster than her brain as she collected her stuff and got up to leave but all that it took her was hearing about Mai for her initial rage to be replaced by the sheer helpless vulnerability.

The unshed tears in her eyes gave away that regardless of how firm your pretense is – the mere touch on your weakness and you would struggle to conceal what you’ve been hiding all along.

Avantika still seems to be holding a grudge. Probably not against Dada-Kaka but against the words that he had spoken.

Certain words, depending upon uttered by whom, can stab you in your heart and hurt more than multiple knives stabbing you at a time.

Beneath the surface anger and ego stay securely hidden longing for the once beautiful but currently broken bonds that used to breathe love and absolute love.

Avantika saw what she needed to see today. The image of her distraught mother that Apurva’s words painted in her mind.

No matter how stubbornly her ego and hurt might try to hold her back – her heart, sooner or later, will force her feet to walk on the road that she had abandoned years ago. The road to her family!

| The Woeful Warning

“Appu, don’t do anything that will hurt Dada and Mai because we all are extremely sensitive about this particular matter.”

You have no idea what it has taken us to learn to live without the one we adored with all our hearts, Appu. You’ve no idea. After Avanti left – for several long days… for several long days, Appu… all of us used to call for Avanti only to realize that our call would never get a response. Only if you had seen what we went through while learning to go on with life with a smile, hiding our pain from each other – I wouldn’t have needed to explicitly tell you anything today.

Dada-Kaka may seem a harsh, heartless man to you at the moment because you haven’t seen how Avantika’s withdrawal had broken him into pieces back then. Even though he stood strong in front of everyone – I have seen him stealing a secret place for himself to cry for the daughter who was his world.

Please, Appu… don’t dig the old wounds of the past. I know, you’re trying to caress our wounds but know that the nails of your interference would prick our wounds far too brutally for us to admire the caresses of your pure intention.

Please… don’t do anything that will hurt Dada and Mai.

“Get out of those memories. Keeping old things in the house and old memories in your heart bring you nothing but misery.”

For how long… for how long are you going to torture yourself with the memories of the girl who did not even care to look back once she turned her feet away from you? Just stop it, Madhavi. Forget her because she… has forgotten you. She… has forgotten you.

I’ll leave and once I do, know that I won’t turn back.”

Do you not remember how truly upset I was with Anu when she did what she did? Don’t tell me that you’ve forgotten but it’s enough now, no?

It has been years. YEARS.

If you want to hold onto the anger – do it. Why force me to do the same? She is my kid. I have carried her in my womb for nine months. She is a part of me.

She did make mistakes… When have I ever denied that? But those mistakes cannot kill the love that my heart has for my daughter.  Nobody knows what fate has written for us.

Neither you nor I know which day will be my last. Why am I so wrong if I don’t want to leave with the regret of not seeing her when I could have? Please don’t make things so hard for me. I love you… you know that I do but you cannot stop me from meeting Anu. I won’t let you.

I have kept my pain inside me for years but it is beyond me to bear it anymore. It is… suffocating me. Please don’t make me choose between you two because I will end up losing myself in the process.

“Your wife is the reason behind this. Tell her not to bring this topic up again in this house.”

I don’t have to explicitly state that I am more fond of Apurva than you’re fond of her but Shashank… I don’t have to tell you that in this particular matter… I would tolerate nobody’s interference and when I say nobody’s interference… I mean nobody’s interference.

We all know Apurva’s nature. The moment she sees a problem that is troubling us – she will do whatever it will take her to find its solution. None of us are oblivious to how connected she feels to us and the immense love that her heart holds for us.

I love Apurva. Why I need her to stop before she does something that makes me lose my calm!

Why I need her to stop.

| The Bewitching Blessing

Apurva Vartak Kanitkar.

I wholeheartedly appreciate this woman for her relentless passion for her family’s happiness.

She created the moment that made Kukki break the silence that he had chosen for years and let the emotions that he had buried deep find his voice. Kukki probably himself does not remember when he brought the name Avanti to his lips last. After several long years – even if temporarily – he was able to talk about his Avanti to someone. Because of Apurva.

She lied to get the information that she needed, promising him that she would just search for her on social media but the moment she found Avantika, the first thing that she did was create a way to meet her.

I kind of expected Apurva to blurt everything on the call itself, considering that she does not hold herself back and isn’t of the kind to think ten times before doing something but I actually have to appreciate that she kept her thoughts stable enough to know that she needed to meet Avantika in person to convince her to meet Mai. And she tricked Avantika into meeting her because she probably knew that she didn’t have a choice.

Kiti chhan aahe hi. Dada-Kaka satkhi boltey. Mai sarkhi simple pan chhan rahtey. That’s Apurva Vartak Kanitkar for you. She doesn’t even know Avantika but the very fact that she is her Dada-Kaka and Mai’s daughter stays more than enough for her heart to adore Avantika.

The whole cafe scene from the moment she revealed her identity was too honest not to fall for.  Apurva poured her heart out in front of Avantika and Avantika had to let go of her anger because Apurva’s emotions were too genuine to ignore. Too genuine to ignore.

Apurva has only one selfish motive and that is – she desires Mai’s happiness.

The world may think that she could have just kept quiet and let everything happen the way it has been happening for years – that she could have just minded her own business and protected herself from getting accused and blamed for a noble reason but the woman knows that it is beyond her.

That it is beyond her to watch her Mai’s genuine, heartwarming smile getting replaced by a forced, fake one.

That it is beyond her to do nothing and go on with her life after knowing about her Mai’s painful suffering that has been traumatizing her for years.

That it is beyond her to fold her hands across her chest and pretend that everything is going just fine just like the rest of her family members have been doing when she knows that it is a surface thing.

That it is beyond her… not to fight for her family’s happiness even if that means fighting with that same family to put an end to their quiet suffering and bring the color that had walked away back to complete their Rangoli that has stayed incomplete without that one color for years.

Apurva Vartak Kanitkar has made the choice to put her family through temporary pain to gift them permanent happiness.

The choice might snatch her own happiness – her own family that she was doing everything for – in the process but she still wouldn’t change her choice because Apurva Vartak Kanitkar has always prioritized her family’s happiness over hers.

Apurva Vartak Kanitkar – The Bewitching Blessing Indeed!
