“Tum nahi jaaogi!”
“Aap hote kaun hai mujhe rokne wale?”
“Mujhe sach me batane ki zaroorat hai?”
“Ahaan, please. I would appreciate if you mind your business and do not interfere in mine, alright?”
“I am minding my business, Ishqi and I am here right now because you… are my business too.”
“I am not, Mr. Malhotra.”
“Mr. Malhotra? Seriously?”
“Right, Sir.”
“Sir? Mr. Malhotra? Is that all that I am to you?”
She didn’t let the hurt in his tone distract her even for a moment as she got his hand down her wrist. “Yes, Sir. That is all that you are to me. My boss. If media catches you outside my house, they’ll cook up unnecessary stories and I wouldn’t like that so… do not come here again.”
“You think I give a damn?”
“I do and that’s why – you have to.”
He held his hands up in surrender. “Listen to me, Ishqi. You don’t have to put up with an abusive household. It’s not normal. It’s not okay. Please… let me help.”
His urge fell on her deaf ears.
“I am capable enough to help myself, Sir.”
He raked his frustrated hand through his hair as she took a step toward her home.
“Ishqi, stop.”
“Chale jaiyiye, Sir.”
“Why don’t you understand, dammit? I don’t trust your Maasa Ji after what I just saw. I can’t leave you alone with him. Moreover, I can’t stand the fact that a woman as headstrong as you is tolerating this BS. The Ishqi that I know of would have ensured for him to be behind the bars. Kyun chup ho tum?”
“Zindagi mein sab kuch itna aasan hota to baat ki kya hoti, Ahaan! Rahi baat chup kyun hoon iski… because this time demands me to. Maasa Ji mere aur Maasi ka bura waqt hai.”
“Aur ye kab tak chalega? Zindagi bhar?”
She stifled a bitter chuckle. “Shayad aap bhul rahe hai, Sir… bure waqt ka bhi bura waqt aata hai aur Maasa Ji ka aa chuka hai! 3 din. 3 din me Maasa Ji jail me honge aur iss baar unhe koi nahi bacha paayega! Maasi bhi nahi.”
“Tum karne kya wali ho?”
“Chale jaaiye, Sir. This doesn’t concern you.”
“You – concern me, Ishqi!” In one long stride, he was beside her. “Aur main tumhara ex-boyfriend nahi hoon.”
“Matlab?”
“Matlab main jaane ke liye nahi aaya hoon!”

This is a random piece of fiction. Absolute imagination. Kind of a random mini tale based on the picture on the characters named Ishqi and Aahan from the show Ishk Par Zor Nahi.Â
