Thipkyanchi Rangoli – Episode 176 – Written Update and Review

To forgive and forget – all that it takes is a heart that acknowledges that none of us is perfect, believes that relationships are more than misunderstandings, and is absolutely clear that love and people matter more than the conflicts.

Dr. Kaushik arrives at Kanitkars the next morning and inquires about why he was called so urgently. He asks if his daughter has caused a problem. Shashank who is still mad at Apurva for coming home drunk and troubling his family speaks rudely to Dr. Kaushik. He tells Dr. Kaushik that Apurva’s behavior brought tears to Dada’s eyes, adding that they had never seen Dada so helpless before and the reason is Apurva. He asks Dr. Kaushik to take his daughter back to his home, shocking Kanitkars with his words.

Dr. Kaushik tells him that he has sent his daughter to Kanitkars on Dada-Kaka’s words and he asks Dada-Kaka if his decision is still the same. Dada-Kaka shakes his head and says that he only wants Dr. Kaushik to make Apurva understand that her yesterday’s behavior was not right.

Shashank continues to let his anger speak and doesn’t hesitate from saying that he no longer wants to live with Apurva and if she doesn’t care about their family’s dignity and rules – then why should she stay there with them? Dr. Kaushik firmly tells Shashank that his opinion of Apurva is wrong and asks everyone what exactly Apurva has done.

Suva Aai tells Dr. Kaushik that Apurva came home drunk last night. Dada-Kaka adds that they acknowledge that Apurva had a different lifestyle before marriage. Maai speaks up and shares with Dr. Kaushik that Apurva couldn’t even stand on her feet properly and nobody liked that.

Kukki gang and Apurva chuckle making Shashank madder. He calls them out.

Dr. Kaushik says that if his daughter has done nothing good for Kanitkars and only given them a headache, he will take his daughter back to his home. Suva Aai shakes her head and says that Shashank did not mean that. Vitthu Baba supports her, adding that they only expect Dr. Kaushik to make Apurva understand.

Dr. Kaushik touches on the topic that he was in reality there for. He tells Dada-Kaka that he calls him as his brother only for namesake and does not behave like he is one. Kanitkars fail to understand what Dr. Kaushik is talking about until he reveals that they did not even care to inform him about the fact that Babi Aatya’s marriage got fixed. Kukki says that everything happened too quickly and that he was going to come to Vartaks to invite them for the wedding in a couple of days.

Dr. Kaushik doesn’t bother hiding his disappointment that he was not involved in the work and was told to fulfill no responsibility. Dada-Kaka admits to being wrong and asks him what responsibility he would like to take. Dr. Kaushik says that he will take care of all the jewelry at the wedding.

Shashank bluntly refuses the help. He refuses to get his aunt married on someone’s charity, adding that anyway there is no relation left between him and Apurva so why should they take any money from Vartaks?

Dr. Kaushik patiently reminds Shashank to not forget the line between self–respect and ego. Dr. Kaushik adds that Shashank ends up insulting people, falling prey to his ego which is not right. He says that if he wants to do something from the bottom of his heart at his sister’s wedding, Shashank is calling it charity then why should he and his daughter stay there?

He starts to leave with Apurva but the Kanitkars run behind them. Dada-Kaka stops Dr. Kaushik and asks him to ignore what Shashank has said. Dr. Kaushik asks if they will accept his request then? Babi Aatya intervenes and says that they respect Dr. Kaushik’s feelings but she does not want to marry by emptying the pockets of her brothers. Dr. Kaushik does not agree and counters her by saying, if a brother does something at his sister’s wedding, his pockets don’t get empty.

Vitthu Baba supports Dr. Kaushik and says that they should take help from him. Dr. Kaushik corrects Vitthu Baba, saying that he is not helping them. He is just giving a gift to his sister out of love.

Shashank jumps in again and says that their values do not permit them to take such expensive gifts. He adds that he will buy jewelry for his aunt from his prize money.

Dr. Kaushik says that if Kanitkars got jewelry from Shashank’s prize money by hurting him, he will boycott Babi Aatya’s wedding.  Apurva joins the Mission Boycott Babi Aatya’s wedding if they didn’t let her father do his bit in the wedding.

Everyone insists that they must come to the wedding. Dr. Kaushik repeats that he will only come if his request is accepted otherwise their relations are over. Kukki intervenes and gently asks Dr. Kaushik to do whatever he wants to do for Babi Aatya’s wedding but at the same time, requesting him not to do anything that would burden them.

Dada-Kaka nods and allows Dr. Kaushik to do everything, but after telling him that he will return the money for all the extra stuff that Dr. Kaushik would be doing other than his gift. They share a hug and everyone starts smiling until Shashank gets back to expressing his frustration upon how everyone forgot the trouble and stress caused by Apurva just like that.

The Kukki gang eventually reveals that Apurva had not consumed alcohol last night. Kanitkars feel guilty for misjudging Apurva and apologizes to her. Apurva assures them that she has already forgotten everything and so should they.

Dr. Kaushik takes the opportunity to make Shashank realize his mistake. He reminds Shashank that he cannot always be right. Apurva can be right sometimes too. Shashank realizes and acknowledges having gone way too wrong about Apurva.

A very well-executed episode, done without stretching the revelation. One of the things that I truly admire about Thipkyanchi Rangoli is the fact that it does not unnecessarily drag and stretch tracks. That way, neither you get bored nor you get annoyed. The time duration that they have for each track seems just perfect and none of the tracks and small bits so far have been insignificant.

With every track – in fact, I would say with every scene – they are achieving their goals. Be it character growth or relationship growth.

From Shashank scheming to make Apurva stay back when she was leaving after the office fiasco to Apurva scheming to bring Shashank out of his room to play Holi with her… from the great scientist coming up with a lie as lame as that there is no teddy available in the whole city and not even the material needed to make teddies to Apurva sincerely wanting to do something good after her husband called her selfish.

Everything has contributed to the growth of characters as individuals and with each other but there are certain things that Shashank needs to realize. One of them is that he needs to watch his words and tone while talking to Dr. Kaushik.

When Apurva was talking to Dada-Kaka and apparently saying nothing but the truth – how did you intervene, Mr. Kanitkar, warning her to keep in mind with whom she is talking? The same way – the very same way, Mr. Kanitkar – you need to watch your words and tone with Dr. Kaushik. It is Dr. Kaushik’s niceness that he lets you escape every single time but that doesn’t mean that you’ll take advantage of that Mr. Kanitkar. Looks bad on you. It becomes problematic for us to take your side when you call everyone else out when they disrespect you and your family but you yourself go on doing that. That’s neither fair nor right, Mr. Kanitkar.

I love how pure and sorted Apurva is as a person. She wholeheartedly accepts her people and lets go of their flaws, readily forgets and forgives and loves her people with everything that she has got.

I loved how everyone from Kanitkars apologized to her over and over after realizing that they judged her wrong. One of my favorite moments was when Maai and Suva Aai gets concerned about her leg injury and express how truly they were bothered that she slept with that aching leg. Wholesome people. Wholesome people.

An episode of realizations, apologies, forgiveness, and absolute unfiltered love.
