“Kyu? Mujhe kuch ho jata to tumhe koi farq padta?”
Tucking her hair strands behind her ears, he asked in a feathery soft voice, gazing right into her eyes. His palm stayed pressed on her cheek, giving away that he had abandoned every bit of the hesitation that gripped him otherwise every time she was around.
Her hands were still on his shoulders but his hands had slipped to circle around her waist, holding her in his secure hold.
His frantic wife seemed a bit relaxed after his efforts of calming her down. He was awestruck upon witnessing her keeping aside her demonic fear that haunted her not just in the middle of the night hut even in the broad daylight – just for him.
Just for him.
This very woman, when herself was caught in fire days ago… couldn’t move despite her own life being in danger, and today, that very woman – had jumped in fire abandoning her fear… for him?
When did he become so important to her that she was fighting her inner demons for him?
He needed to get his answers from her.
She slowly let her hands slide down from his shoulders realizing how close she was to him. “Aapko yaad hai aapne kaha tha ke aapko meri aankhon mein dikhta hai jab main jhooth bolne ki koshish karti hu?”
Where did that come from? His forehead stretched in slight annoyance at what she was trying to make him recall.
He hummed in response anyway.
“Matlab aankhein padh lete hai aap meri. To… ye bhi padh lijiye.”
