Set in the time when Abhay used to teach Apurva, much to Shashank’s annoyance.

“Aaik na Khadoos mala champi karun de na!! Doka khoop dukhtay majha! “

Apurva sat on the bed after a long day studying and then helping around for Ganpati celebrations. 

“Kay ga! Kay zhala? Taap nahi na alay?” He immediately put his hand on her forehead to check. 

“Arey nahi re, Khadoos! Kiti kalgi kartos!” Arey Abhya ne itka homework dila hota na aaj! Kahi vicharu nakos!!” Pan mast shikavto na Abhya?

Shashank immediately removed his hand from her forehead , looking frustrated. 

“Mala kay vichartes, tujhe Abhay sir ahet na te? Baghitla mi agadi hatat haat gheun shikvat hota!” , he muttered under his breath as he got up and sat on the settee next to the bed. Apurva immediately followed him sitting next to him. 

“Kay mhanalas , Khadoos?” , she teased. 

“Kahi nahi! Changla tula mhanat hoto ki mi shikavto, pan nahi tula tujha toh Smartee milalay na ata!!” he blurted. 

Apurva was enjoying how cute he looked when angry. He looked child-like when he was grumpy and she refrained herself from pulling his cheeks. 

“Smartee na… smartee alyapasun mala khoop majja yetiye! She was looking at Shashank’s expression as she suppressed a smile. “Toh na itka funny aahe na.. I tell you! Sagla abhyas majja masti karat houn jaato” , she continued. 

Shahsank was exasperated, his expressions wary. He could no longer take that so called “kautuk” of that stupid monkey. He takes a deep breathe and looks at Apurva. He thinks.. This is it! However stupid it may sound, I have to put an end to these study sessions. Baas ata! As he snaps out of his thoughts he realises that his “Baas ata” was aloud! Apu gives a sly smile asking, ” Kay Khadoos.. kay Bas? ” batting her eyelids more than required! Clearly annoyed, Shashank turns around facing and grabs both her hands. “Tujha abhyas is our time and our time alone, kalala? I will not share it with anyone! Mind you, anyone! , he growls! 

Apurva’s eyes almost pop out at this sudden revelation. After the initial shock, she looks at him as he continues his tone softening, ” You remember that compliments game we played, and you said that I teach well! Then why this monkey has to come to teach you now? Mala nahi avadnaar tujha koni asa haat dharlela kalala!!!, he frowned. 

“Aadhich tu satat busy astes gharatlyansobat , tyat ata haa alay majhya dokyavar mirya vatayla!” Shashank said adjusting his glasses. 

“Khadoos.. mirya what!!” Apu asked confused! 

“Apurva……. “he sighed deeply as she broke his chain of thoughts, irritated with her endless doubts. “Aga, mala mhanaychay ki … ha kashala alay ithe.. toh alyapasun tujha sagla laksha tyachach kade asta. Ani kay ga satat Smartee.. Smartee karat phirat astes ga… Mi navra aahe tujha! Ani… Mala toh monkey ajibaat avadat nahi ! Kasla agaau aahe.. vattel tasa bolto, tula premachya kavita kay shikavto…hatat haat gheun(He mumbled) Majhya samor .. majhya samor he had the audacity to hug you.. How dare he? How dare he, Apurva? He grabbed her arms in a tight grip as he spoke. 

“Tu Majhi bayko ahes ani mala nahi avadnaar, majhya bayko shi koni ashi javaleek sadhleli.. kalala!! Te kahi nahi.. tu tyala atta chy atta phone karun saang ki tuition cancel! Henceforth, tujha sagla abhyas mi ghenaar aahe! That’s it!”, Shashank continued ranting! 

There was a sudden thud on the when he snapped out of his day dreaming session as Apu entered the room asking… “Arey kiti vel darwaja vajavtey.. daar ka ughadat navtas.. haa? Kuthe haravlays?? ” She snapped a finger across his face.. to grab his attention. 

“Kay zhala Khadoos?”, Apu asked confused. 

“Kahi nahi.. ratra khoop zhaliye.. ani tula udya tuition asel na tya Abhay sobat.. Zhopuya . Zhopuya apan!!” He stammered. 

“Arey tula sangaychich visarle , Abhya 10 ek divas yenaar nahiye ata.. toh tyacha mavshi kade challay .. Mumbaila!! ” Apu said as she turned towards the table to keep her books.  

Shashank couldn’t contain his elation.. he air fisted .. muffling a victory ‘Yes!!’ .. as she suddenly turned to look at him. He then asked matter-of-factly, “Ata tujha abhyas?” Umm.. no problem.. no problem.. mi ghein.. mi ghein tujha abhyas.. chalel? 

“Ho… chalel ki! She said as they sat on the bed to retire for the night!  

“Sunthi vaachun khokla gela! “He mumbled to himself. 

“Khadoos, Sunthi kay?” Apu questioned. 

“Kahi nahi.. Hmm.. ghe teddy alay!” He said, as he grinned at her. 

She gladly took his arm and wrapped it around her neck. He began patting her as he sighed loudly keeping the other arm on his forehead. After about a long minute of silence Apurva turned to him and said, “Khara sangu ka khadoos?.. tuch jasta chaan shikavtos!!” She smiled warmly at him before assuming her position again and said, ” Khadoos .. Chashma! ” 

Shashank slowly smiled, removed his glasses and kept on the side table as he tightened his grip over her.. his face emitting nothing but contentment! 

This is a one shot – a piece of fanfiction – written on the characters, Shashank and Apurva from the show named Thipkyanchi Rangoli that airs on Star Pravah from Monday to Saturday at 10 p.m.
