Thipkyanchi Rangoli – Episode 172 – Written Update and Review

If anyone were to ask Mr. Shashank Kanitkar – what is tougher? Being a scientist or being a husband? Mr. Kanitkar wouldn’t take a microsecond to pick the latter.

If anyone were to ask Mr. Shashank Kanitkar – what is more challenging? Doing his research work or dealing with his wife’s unpredictable antics? Mr. Kanitkar wouldn’t take a nanosecond to pick the latter.

If anyone were to ask Mr. Shashank Kanitkar – what is the longest-running and ridiculously tricky experiment he had done in his life? Mr. Kanitkar wouldn’t take even a fraction of a second to announce – Mrs. Apurva Vartak Kanitkar.

The episode begins with Shashank looking for Apurva. When he cannot find her and realizes that her purse isn’t in the cupboard either, he grows anxious and calls Apurva who doesn’t take his calls, causing his anxiety to turn into fury.

At Vartak’s residence, the scene picks up from where it was left in the previous episode. Dr. Kaushik continues to remind his wife to mind her language and behavior. Dr. Anjali continues to rant about Kanitkars being greedy and Sarika, dumb for encouraging Apurva instead of warning her about Kanitkars.

Dr. Kaushik starts listing everything that Sarika has selflessly done for his daughter while questioning what Dr. Anjali has ever done for their daughter.

Apurva takes a stand for her in-laws, firmly stating that if Dr. Anjali believes that Kanitkars aren’t good people –  nobody in the whole world can be good.

Sarika as usual tries to intervene and put an end to the argument but Apurva refuses to calm down and listen to a word more against her Aatti.

Shashank keeps calling Apurva who keeps rejecting his call. Sarika suggests that Apurva should go back home since Kanitkars must be worried for her. Dr. Anjali interrupts, saying that Apurva isn’t Kanitkar’s slave to do everything so as to suit them.

Apurva shares how everyone denied her suggestion of taking financial help from Vartaks and Shashank even warned her not to do anything that would hurt their self-respect.

Dr. Anjali makes a comment on Kanitkars that they are double-faced people and all hell breaks loose. Apurva loses her calm and refuses to tolerate anything said by Dr. Anjali against Kanitkars.

Shashank grows worried and infuriated at the same time when Apurva neither returns home nor responds to his calls. He lashes out in front of Kanitkars and refuses to entertain their attempts to calm him down. Kanitkars ask him to check with Dr. Kaushik once if Apurva is there but he turns it down, stating that Dr. Kaushik would get worried if Apurva isn’t at Vartaks.

At Vartak’s residence, yet another argument gets stirred up between Apurva and Dr. Anjali when the latter orders Sarika to bring a Mango Milkshake for the former.

Apurva interrupts and asks Dr. Anjali to go ahead and make one for instead since she has been flaunting her mother status all this while. Dr. Anjali gets annoyed upon being compared with Sarika and the other mother figures from Apurva’s extended family. Sarika tries to stop the duo from fighting and eventually moves to the kitchen to make Thaleepeeth for Apurva.

Apurva once again urges Dr. Kaushik to take care of the jewelry thing in a way that nobody would get hurt – not even in the slightest way. Dr. Kaushik is content to see the maturity that Apurva’s words, thoughts, and behavior display.

At Kanitkars, while everyone else talks in Apurva’s favor, calling out Shashank for his harsh approach toward Apurva, Babi Aatya supports Shashank, saying that Apurva should have informed someone before going out.

Dada-Kaka makes an unexpectedly early return, surprising Kanitkars who get baffled when they struggle to handle the situation when he inquires about Apurva.

For some reason, my Television volume was low and I couldn’t quite hear when Shashank whispered purse before moving toward the cupboard.  I was still under the impression that he was looking for Apurva and the moment I caught him opening the cupboard, I was in splits. I was like what the heck is this guy doing? Did he actually search for her in the cupboard? Our dearest scientist really seems to have lost it.

It wasn’t until I realized that he was looking for her purse in the cupboard, I heaved a sigh of relief. Our scientist is still sane, people. He hasn’t lost his sanity yet. xD.

My heart kinda went out for Shashank when he rushed to the door and lingered around, desperately waiting to catch his wife’s glimpse. What I saw right there was his anxious heart that was refusing to sit in peace until it saw Apurva. I loved the scene.

The way Kanitkars sat together, all worked up when Apurva didn’t return – has my heart. This family makes watching Thipkyanchi Rangoli such a wholesome experience.  I loved how almost everyone tried to back Apurva up. Kukki. Amey. Manasi. Nikhil. Sumi and especially Maai. I see where Babi Aatya was coming from as well. It’s so interesting and amusing at the same time to see how the same concern makes everyone react in different ways.

The whole scene at Vartaks was quite interesting to watch.  In a single episode, they revealed so much, constantly touching and emphasizing why Apurva cannot warm up to Dr. Anjali. Apurva and her Aatti’s bond shone like never before in this episode. Dr. Kaushik mentioning that whatever property that Sarika had – she has transferred it to Apurva’s name was a little overwhelming for me. Apurva’s warning to Dr. Anjali about how she would not stand a word against Sarika has been constant from the very beginning.

Coming to the highlight of the episode – riled up, worked up, enraged, and frustrated Mr. Kanitkar! I can no longer get mad at Mr. Kanitkar when I see him getting mad at trivial things. This time – the thing wasn’t trivial though but the hypocrisy that was dripping from Mr. Kanitkar’s whole outburst amused me.

How does it feel Mr. Kanitkar when someone stays out of home, uninformed and refuses to take your calls? Just in case you have forgotten – didn’t you do the same thing some days ago, hmm? आठवतेय

किती बोललात, Mr. Kanitkar? Careless. Senseless. Irresponsible. This. That. Why this selective outrage, Mr. Kanitkar?

काही दिवसांपूर्वी जेव्हा आपणही असेच वागला होतात – फोन बंद करून बसला होतात – तेव्हा शिस्तीचे धडे नाही बरं गिरविले तुम्ही स्वतःला?

Now, I am sure, you have also learned your lesson. You sure now know how it feels, don’t you?

Jokes apart, Shashank really seemed worried sick to me. No matter what he said, no matter what comments he made, no matter what mask he wore – if you look at the last couple of minutes where Shashank sits down, you can see that the rage, anger and frustration were on-surface things. Deep down, he was nothing but undeniably uncomfortable, ridiculously restless, and conspicuously concerned.
