Thipkyanchi Rangoli – Episode 181 – Written Update and Episode Review

I may struggle to express,
But your absence puts me in deep distress.
I no longer care if childish is what this will make me sound,
As I confess today, I miss you when you are not around. – IAdoreYouCreates

Kukki makes a hilariously sarcastic comment – He is right. He cannot like it. He is an eighty-year-old teacher leaving the Kukki gang in splits and Shashank, annoyed.

Shashank – Are you guys done laughing? And have we ever done these kinds of things ever before in this house? Amey Da, have you ever worn matching clothes before? Hmm, Sumi… have you?

Sumi – No but just because we haven’t – in the past – doesn’t mean we never should.

Manasi – Moreover, Appu has brought these clothes for us with so much love and excitement.  We were bound to wear it.

Shashank – Fine. Alright. You guys do whatever you want to do. I am not going to interfere with that but let me just make one thing very clear … don’t force me.

Apurva – Don’t force him, Kukki. He is not going to wear it.  I am the one who has asked him to wear these clothes, no? He won’t listen to me. If Netra Tai had asked him, he would have listened to her.

While Apurva furiously walks away and sits on a chair, Netra’s mention gets Shashank to instantly rise to his feet.

He moves toward her, asking the Kukki gang – how on the earth can she speak so confidently about me?

Kukki tries to calm both Shashank and Apurva down. He joins his hands in front of them asking them to stop fighting, adding that he is tired of resolving their fights.

Kukki to Apurva – Let him do what he wants to do. You come with us. We have to go to bring Bhaskar right?

Visibly upset, Apurva speaks not a single word in response. Kukki tries to pacify her, pointing at their clothes brought by her as he asks her not to get upset. She turns her head away.

Kukki asks them to put an end to the topic then and there, reminding them that Bhaskar must be waiting.

Kukki – Shashank, are you coming with us or?

Shashank – No. I have some work. I will finish that and come later.

Manasi – Come, Appu. If he is anyway not coming with us then it makes no difference if you two are wearing color-coordinated clothes or not.

The Kukki gang is about to leave when Kukki stops to compliment Shashank that he is looking handsome, which instantly gets Apurva jealous.

Apurva – Really? Oh. Wow. He is looking handsome. He is looking good. WHAT ABOUT ME?

Sumi – Appu, he is looking handsome just today. You look beautiful every day.

Shashank – Sumi… go down!

Manasi to Shashank – You have two minutes. Take your words back or else Appu will put Bahishkar on you. ( Will boycott you. )

Shashank – Does she even know the meaning of that?

The Kukki gang looks at Apurva with hopeful eyes to which she readily nods, saying that she does know.

Shashank – Really? Tell me.

Apurva takes a few seconds to recall and to Shashank’s disappointment and everyone else’s excitement – she remembers – boycott!

The Kukki Gang – See, she knows.

Manasi – Come on, let’s start counting now.

Apurva – Khadoos Boycott 1. 2. 3.

Shashank – 10. Are you guys done? I have a lot of work. Dada has asked me to coordinate with the catering service. You guys do your time pass and enjoy it.  I will do the work.

Amey – Kukki, how much work do we do? We do everything, don’t we?

Kukki – Absolutely.

Amey – We do everything. Lights. Pandal. Decoration. Lemons were pricey so I made the Kokam drink but did I flaunt it? No, and look at him. He is doing this one catering work and he is making it sound like he is the one who is doing everything.

Shashank – All of those are minor things.

Shashank’s comment gets Apurva furiously leave the chair that she was sitting on as she asks him – minor? You think all of these are minor works? What rocket science are you doing? Just communicating with the caterers? Are you cooking with them? Have you taken a degree in food management?

Kukki tries to calm Apurva down and asks her to come with them as they are getting late.

Amey Dada returns to Shashank right before stepping out – We’re going to bring Bhaskar Kaka and it’s NOT a minor work, alright?

Apurva supports Amey Dada, adding – it’s not. Got it?

Visibly unaffected, Shashank gestures for them to leave. While Amey Dada leaves, Shashank asks Apurva to stay back, saying that he has to talk to her.

While the Kukki gang realizes that Apurva hasn’t come out of the room yet, Manasi adds that Shashank must have stopped her. Kukki says that it is hard to get to know what’s really going on in Shashank’s heart. Sumi nods, adding that they don’t get along together but they can’t stay away from each other either.

In the room, when Shashank is walking toward Apurva, his leg gets entangled in the carpet and he falls on her. She holds him, letting him balance himself. Eyes poured into each other’s and hands wrapped around each other – the duo shares a sweet moment.

Shashank steadies himself on his feet, pulling his hands back to himself.

Shashank – What’s the thing with you?

Apurva – Me? You are asking me what’s the thing with me? You fell on me, Khadoos and you are asking me –

Shashank cuts her off in the middle to avoid the awkward topic – anyways, anyways, I have to talk to you a bit.

Apurva refuses to talk, saying –  I don’t want to answer any of your questions, Khadoos – and she starts walking to the door but before she can step out, Shashank holds her by her arm, turning her toward himself.

Shashank – Apurva, wait. Tell me something. Where did you go during Babi Aatya’s Haldi ceremony? You were missing from the main function? Where did you go?

The Kukki gang, standing outside the door, slap their hands on their foreheads, realizing the actual reason why Shashank is bummed out.

Kukki – So he is mad because Appu wasn’t at home during Haldi!

Amey – Seriously. Understanding Shashank is as tough as it can be for anyone.

Sumi – When he can express his anger toward her, why can’t he just admit that he loves her?

Amey – He will never admit it on her face but he really does love her.

Manasi – Also his words are a bit too high-level for our Appu to comprehend. How and when she will understand his feelings!

The Kukki gang is about to leave but stops hearing Shashank who continues to ask Apurva where she was.

Apurva – I went because I had some work. How does it affect you?

Shashank – It does affect me. Something didn’t feel right when you were not around.

His words bring a sweet smile to Apurva’s face which instantly makes him conscious, making him add – one minute, it’s nothing like that. Basically, when you are around – you are just everywhere with your weird antics and the chaos that you create. I was missing those antics and the chaos. And that is why… something didn’t feel right.

Kukki – He will say everything but reserve the main point.

Apurva – Ah, I see so you miss me because I scream, fight and create chaos?

Shashank – No, I didn’t say that I miss you. I said, I miss the chaos, the antics. I said… I miss those things. I like that.

Apurva – Fine, I will do one thing. From tomorrow – no… from today itself, I will everyday scream, yell, create chaos and –

Shashank holds her excited hands swaying in the air – no, you don’t have to. It’s enough what you do. I am afraid I won’t be able to handle more chaos than what you usually create.

Apurva – Okay but Khadoos, you haven’t clearly told me yet if you were missing me or not? Actually, I think you really were missing me.

Shashank – APURVA! By the way, tell me why have you dressed up so much today?

Apurva – I like that. Do you have any problems? I don’t care even if you do.

Shashank – No, I don’t have a problem.

Apurva – You don’t, right?

Shashank – No.

Apurva – Good.

She lifts her hands that are still in his hold, asking – Will you let go of my hands now? You know, everyone is calling me out, no? What do I tell them when they will ask me why I got late?

Shashank – Anything. Lie. You are capable of that but until our conversation is done, I am not letting go of your hands. You know, the conversation shouldn’t stay incomplete, right? That is the only reason why I am holding your hands. Nothing else.

Apurva – Khadoos, do you realize what you are asking me to do? Khadoos, do you know who you are?

Shashank – Who?

Apurva pats his cheek, saying – the epitome of honesty. Khadoos, you are the epitome of honesty.

Shashank – That I am and that is why I am honestly telling you that I like the chaos that you create… a bit.

Apurva – Khadoos, I am asking you the same. You miss the chaos that I create means you miss me. You miss me. Yes, you do miss me, Khadoos. And if you miss me, it means that you like me. And now I am going out to tell everyone the same.

She rushes out to the Kukki gang to share what Shashank has just confessed. The Kukki gang starts laughing and eventually tells her that they have already heard everything.

Apurva – He also said that when a crazy girl like me is not around him – he misses me.

Amey – And it means that he really, really loves you.

Sumi – Just doesn’t express it.

Amey – And might never express it.

In the room, Shashank ponders over how truly simple Apurva is as a person as he watches her so ecstatic just by knowing that he was missing her. He silently agrees with Maai who keeps saying that Apurva finds joy in small things. He acknowledges that he had never thought that he would miss her if and when she is not around him.

Apurva leaves with the Kukki gang to bring Bhaskar by the time Shashank comes out of his room.

Shashank silently wonders why did he say what he just did to Apurva – what do I do with this girl? Even after telling her so much, she still left. Why did I say all of these things to her? She is so childish. Doesn’t understand anything.

The scene shifts to Bhaskar’s home where the Kukki gang has already reached. The bit includes some light-hearted conversation between Bhaskar and Deepali in front of everyone.

When Apurva gets friendly with Ovi, the latter moves away. To divert the attention, Kukki mentions how he wants to renew his marriage since the wedding vibes have made him nostalgic.

Apurva comes up with the idea that they should indeed plan remarriages and start with Dada-Kaka and Maai, saying that all kids have the right to be at the wedding of their parents.

Deepali passes a comment that she won’t be able to be a part of it since her husband is not alive. Apurva tries to pacify her, saying that Ovi is getting to be a part of her father’s wedding and that they will enjoy together but an angry Ovi refuses to be a part of the celebration. Deepali asks her to apologize to Apurva who doesn’t let Ovi apologize, understanding the complicated things that Ovi’s delicate mind is dealing with.

As Apurva watches Deepali instruct Ovi about behaving well at the wedding and calling Babi Aatya as Mothi Aai ( Badi Maa ) from today, she can’t resist but asks if Deepali is not coming to the wedding.

Mr. Kanitkar has started bothering about his wife connecting him to Netra a lot more than he used to, in the past. Seems like Mr. Kanitkar can no longer stand his wife even considering in her wildest imagination that he can ever look at anyone the way he looks at her.

As feelings are blooming and affection is deepening – Mr. Kanitkar’s uneasiness with Netra’s mention is naturally increasing. And I am so liking it. Let it get to the point where Mr. Kanitkar can see why Mrs. Kanitkar has the insecurities that she does.

Shashank needs to realize that his wife is not unreasonable with what she feels. Someone out there is ensuring that she feels that she doesn’t deserve you, you don’t love her and you two aren’t meant to me. Shashank’s mind may not be sharp enough in this particular aspect to let him comprehend these things but his heart surely has a Ph.D. that it recently completed, earning itself a gold medal in deciphering his wife’s concealed emotions.

The only issue is that Mr. Kanitkar is too stubborn to let his heart intervene.  That’s where everything messes up.

It always amuses me how smooth Mr. Kanitkar’s transition from Khadoos to Shashank is! The moment the Kukki gang is out of his sight, the instant change in his tone, stance, and words is everything.

Shashank in front of everyone – You are childish and immature, Apurva. I can’t stand you. She doesn’t do this. She doesn’t do that.

Shashank in front of only Apurva –Long as I am around, you don’t have to be afraid of anything. You are sweet. Don’t change. Always stay the same. I like you. I miss you.

The cat closes its eyes while drinking milk, believing that nobody can see it but that’s not the case. We are seeing everything, Mr.  Kanitkar.

Apurva’s childlike excitement upon knowing that Khadoos was actually missing her was so wholesome and the people she first ran to share her joy with were her Kukki gang members.

Shashank’s sweet little monologue about the qualities of his wife that keep pulling him toward her had to be one of the sweetest scenes of the day. He does have conflicting thoughts when it comes to his newfound feelings for her but there are certain things that Mr. Kanitkar has absolute clarity in – like his wife’s pure heart that he can no longer resist falling for.

Mr. Kanitkar making excuses to hold Mrs. Kanitkar’s hands though. Told you people yesterday – he is high on love fever.

The whole scene at Bhaskar’s place was interesting and quite expected. Ovi’s reaction to everything just feels natural to me. Especially with the way Deepali is presenting everything in front of her. Acceptance is not easy. For neither Deepali nor Ovi.

Apurva just makes me smile in certain scenes. Can’t believe there was a time when she used to be too loud for my liking. Back then, I could never see myself warming up to her but now, I am mostly in the team Apurva. The way she swiftly and calmly toned down her excitement after Ovi moved away from her and assured Deepali that she gets Ovi was a beautiful scene for me.

Yet another beautiful episode!
