Thipkyanchi Rangoli – Episode 192 – Written Update and Episode Review

I used to be a workaholic first, who practiced work is worship.
Then I met my Shishta.
Her magical charm brought out a whole different person within me.
And now I practice a strange kind of Lukkhegiri where I do have work but I don’t kind of want to work.
Perhaps, the only work that I am now interested in is – missing my Shishta whenever she is not in front of my eyes.
– IAdoreYouCreate

P.S. You are supposed to read that in the dramatic tone of those advertisements – “Pehle mere baal bohot patle the. Fir mujhe mila ye hair oil aur ab dekhiye mere ghane, lehraate baal!” – to enjoy this to the fullest. xD

W H A T   H A P P E N E D   I N   T H E   E P I S O D E ?

The episode begins with Apurva walking into her and Shashank’s room where the latter is still awake, reading a book. Her unexpected presence surprises him and he asks her if Babi Aatya is mad. She shakes her head, telling him that she has a headache and needs a balm. He pulls out the bottle of balm from the drawer of his side table and gives it to her. He keeps aside his book and asks her if he should rub it on her forehead. She denies it  saying that Babi Aatya would do it for her. He asks her not to trouble Babi Aatya as she is disturbed at the moment and insists her on sitting.

As she sits and he starts rubbing the balm on her forehead, she rests her head on the pillow in his lap. While he massages her head, she starts talking about Bhaskar and Babi Aatya.

Apurva – Both love each other then why are they not admitting it? He likes her. She likes him as well. Then why are these two not admitting it? Bhaskar Kaka may have gone wrong that day. I mean, he DID go wrong but he is stepping forward to apologize to her, no? Then why is Babi Aatya taking a step back now?

Shashank – Babi Aatya is quite disturbed at the moment. We shouldn’t be troubling her more and so… you stay away from this matter.

Apurva – How do I stay away? Khadoos, we have to do something.

Shashank – What can we do!

Apurva places his hand stuck in the air back on her forehead – you concentrate on rubbing the balm. I will do the thinking business.

Shashank – Okay but remember one thing, Apurva. We cannot hurt Bhaskar Kaka or Babi Aatya. We have to take care of their feelings. Don’t say anything that can hurt them.

Apurva falls asleep and Shashank continues to pat her. On the other hand, Babi Aatya remembers Bhaskar.

The next morning when Apurva comes downstairs, she spots a shadow and is quick to wonder if it’s a ghost but reminds herself that Shashank had come up with that false ghost theory to make her study. After a moment, she still contemplates if it’s a ghost but smacks herself, realizing that ghosts don’t have a shadow.

She wonders if it could be a thief and ends up concluding that he indeed is a thief.

She rushes to the window – how dare he try and sneak into Kanitkar’s house? Wait. I will see how he enters.

She grabs a rod and goes out. Just when she is about to hit him, the person comes out and Apurva gets shocked to see that it’s Bhaskar.

Bhaskar – You thought that I was a thief?

Apurva – You were trying to sneak in. What else was I supposed to think? This rod would have been on your head, Bhaskar Kaka.

Bhaskar – I don’t have another option. You are seeing how Vidya is neither ready to talk to me nor is she willing to even look at my face. What else could I have done? Then I remembered this old trick that I used to do.

Apurva – What?

Bhaskar – You know…

Apurva shakes her head.

Bhaskar – I am telling. Back then when I used to come to meet Vidya and needed to notify her that I am here – I would throw a stone into her room. Even now… I was thinking about doing the same thing.

Apurva – Really? I mean, how thrilling! People do these kinds of things in love?

Bhaskar shrugs his shoulders, nodding.

Apurva – By the way, I got to know something. You used to take Babi Aatya to your college… to your class… by making her wear that white apron and all, hmm?

Bhaskar smiles at Apurva’s teasing session as his joy knows no bounds upon realizing that Babi Aatya must have told her about it.

Bhaskar – She told you this, no? See… she remembers every single moment that we have spent together then why is she behaving like this? Why is she holding on to the anger? Why is she not trying to understand me? I want to meet her. Once.

Apurva denies and tells him that Babi Aatya won’t meet him. He urges her to help him, saying that nobody might be able to help him but she most definitely can.

Having witnessed Babi Aatya’s anger just the previous night, Apurva makes it clear that she cannot hurt Babi Aatya or make her mad. Bhaskar laughs as Apurva mentions about Babi Aatya’s anger.

Bhaskar – But, Appu, everything is fair in love and war.

Apurva – Is it so?

Bhaskar – Absolutely. See if we have to lie a bit, do some madness to get our love… it’s forgiven.

Apurva – No but you know the video clip… your video clip that we showed to her yesterday… it really hurt her. She got… mad at me.

Bhaskar – I know. I can understand but you know, when we take up a challenge or responsibility, we have to take risks. And when there are risks involved, such things can happen.

Apurva – Look, Bhaskar Kaka… all that I know is… that I don’t want to hurt Babi Aatya anymore. I don’t want to see her hurt.

Bhaskar – We don’t leave walking for the fear of falling, do we? Hurt and pain come with love.

Apurva – But if someone knows that falling in love will only hurt them then why would they fall in love, no?

Bhaskar tries to make Apurva understand that pain seems insignificant in front of the happiness that love brings with the example of how a mother goes through a tremendous amount of pain while giving birth to her child but forgets all her pain by the mere sight of her child’s smiling face –  See with love comes pain as well but how fair is it to reject love for the fear of getting hurt?

The scene shifts to Shashank’s institute where his thoughts keep going back to Apurva and there starts a battle between him and his heart

Shashank’s intelligent heart – What’s happening, Mr. Shashank?

Shashank’s (particularly in this aspect) naive brain – What? What’s happening? Nothing is happening.

Shashank’s intelligent heart – Don’t you even try lying to me. Thinking about Apurva, right? You think about only her though.

Shashank’s (particularly in this aspect) naive brain – Um no. I don’t constantly think about her. Every once in a while… she comes to my mind.

Shashank’s intelligent heart – Every once in a while? Every once in a while? Say that every now and then she comes to your mind. Accept it that this Khadoos has started liking that Shishta.

Shashank’s (particularly in this aspect) naive brain – No erm actually… I can’t seem to understand what’s happening. I mean her being around me, exuding her right on me is something that I have started liking now – no I mean, it doesn’t trouble me anymore. Doesn’t make me mad.

Shashank’s intelligent heart – This is what they call love, Khadoos. Accept it.

Shashank’s (particularly in this aspect) naive brain – You are saying accept it but love can’t be a one-sided affair. Who knows if she loves me or not? I don’t know.

Shashank’s intelligent heart – – Then find out. Express yourself

Shashank’s (particularly in this aspect) naive brain – No. I don’t think I am capable of that. Moreover, I am not going to force my love on her if she doesn’t love me.

Shashank’s intelligent heart – You guys are married now. They say that love blossoms in each other’s company after marriage. Who knows, she might be in love with you as well but just waiting for you to confess?

Shashank’s (particularly in this aspect) naive brain – That would be even more problematic then. The thing is that she is childish. She will go on to scream it to the world if I confess. Actually, I think –

Shashank’s words come to a halt as he turns around to find his other version dominated by his heart no longer there. He smiles to himself, realizing where love has brought him, making him imagine these kinds of things.

He calls Apurva who is still with Bhaskar. She asks Bhaskar to keep quiet since it is Shashank on the call.

Apurva – Yes, Khadoos?

Shashank – What… are you doing?

Apurva – You have called to ask me this?

Shashank – Yeah, I mean why? Can I not call you?

Apurva – Khadoos… you are okay, right? Did you fall on the way or hurt your head while going to the institute? Is that why you are talking about all these things?

Shashank – What are you even saying, Apurva?

Apurva – Nah nothing. Are you done? Should I keep the phone down?

Shishta! Shashank comments in his mind and asks her not to hang up after she says bye, telling her that he has something important to talk about.

Apurva – Fine. Be quick.

Shashank – Erm nothing much. I have come to the office.

Apurva – I KNOW, you have reached your office.

Shashank – Ye-yeah…. erm have you studied today or not?

Apurva – Ah, now I get it. You called for this, no? Sure, go ahead. Ask me anything. Ask me the theory of psychology or something from economics. Ask me anything. I know it all.

Shashank – Every time I ask you about your studies, this is all that you slap on my face. This is not enough, Apurva. Are you going to write exams based on only this amount of studying?

Apurva – Look, Khadoos… I have only studied this much so far. You… you just keep the phone down. I am doing some work. Bye.

Apurva hangs up and Shashank concludes with a smile that she must be up to something that did not leave her with any free time to talk to him.

Netra who catches Shashank smiling to himself pulls her steps away from his cabin. She wonders who has got Shashank smiling like that. She wonders if it is Apurva and calls Shashank impossible if he is indeed missing her. She mentally makes a note that she has to stop this if Shashank is getting inclined toward Apurva.

Ths scene shifts to Babi Aatya and Apurva where the former asks the latter why she went to meet Bhaskar in the first place. Apurva assures her that she wouldn’t do anything that she doesn’t like. Babi Aatya counters her back saying that this is what she has been doing, adding how Apurva has been behind her to make her meet Bhaskar once.

Apurva – That’s because he genuinely wants to meet you to apologize. He loves you, no?

Babi Aatya – So was I faking my love?

Apurva – Bhaskar Kaka says that everything is fair in love and war.

Babi Aatya – Stop it, Appu and stop chanting Bhaskar Kaka Bhaskar Kaka. Have you really come here to change my mind, taking his side? You shouldn’t have gone to meet him.

Apurva follows Babi Aatya when she moves away and sits on her bed.

Apurva – Listen, listen to me. I didn’t go to meet him. He had come here. To meet you. Like a thief.

Babi Aatya – Like a thief?

Apurva – What else could he have done? You are not meeting him. You are not taking his phone calls. You know what was his plan? He wanted to break your room’s window with a stone but I reached there on time. Saved one window of our house. Babi Aatya… he used to use this trick before?

Babi Aatya – It’s all left behind now.

Apurva – Every damaged thing is not beyond repair, no? Had you recognized Bhaskar Kaka’s signal now… you would have gone to meet him, wouldn’t you?

Babi Aatya – I am not young anymore to do this madness and I am telling you again – everything has ended now.

Apurva – Ended? How come? See, you are going to forever remember the signs that you used to give each other. You and Bhaskar Kaka.

Babi Aatya – Appu, listen to me very carefully. I am telling you for the last time – marriage is not in my fate. When something good is about to happen in our life, the whole universe gives us such signals but I am getting no such signals. On the contrary, all the signs that I have got so far are the ones to warn me about my future.

Apurva – Don’t be so stubborn, no? Please leave all of this, hmm?

Babi Aatya – I am saying please. Please don’t get into all of this.

The scene shifts to Maai, Aparna Kaku and Suva Aai who are busy in the kitchen work.  When Suva Aai starts being extremely sweet, asking Maai if she needs tea or something to eat, Maai tells her that she needs nothing but knows that Suva Aai needs something.

Suva Aai sheepishly grins as she reveals that Desai Kaku is going to give them the jackfruit. She insists Maai on cooking it as she makes the mouthwatering dish. Aparna Kaku joins Suva Aai in convincing Maai to cook.

Apurva barges into the kitchen and bangs on the container, attracting their attention toward herself. She asks them for the signs that can give away that a marriage is going to happen.

Suva Aai – I will give you a brilliant idea. Watch serials. You will get everything that you want. Suppose if the female protagonist in the serial is about to get married – then all of a sudden, vermilion falls into her partition, accidentally by someone’s hand or… or… her leg accidentally causes the rice to spill down or an accidental fall of turmeric on her and things like that. Favorable signs.

Maai and Aparna Kaku burst out laughing, hearing Suva Aai.

Maai – Basically, we hallucinate about the one we love.

Apurva mutters that it sounds tough which makes the trio question what she is saying. Apurva shakes her head and rushes out.

Aparna Kaku voices out the possibility that maybe Apurva was asking about these things so that she can give signs of her feelings to Shashank which excites both, Maai and Suva Aai and they hope that it should be the case.

M Y   T A K E

I am almost never getting tired of saying that Thipkyanchi Rangoli has been at its absolute best so far. At its absolute best! What an incredibly entertaining and at the same time, brilliantly significant episode!

From the new teams in the town – Appu & Bhaskar Kaka and Shashank’s (particularly in the matter of love) naive brain and his intelligent heart. These two teams stole the show today.

Mr. and Mrs. Kanitkar!

The woman who would miserably stay awake the whole night if her teddy wasn’t with her falls asleep within minutes without her teddy these days. Within minutes, I repeat. Without her teddy, I repeat. For me, this goes deeper than just the sweet moments between these two.

Teddy bears are proven to provide a peaceful comfort to agitated and anxious souls. They become your friends, you can confide in. They become the ones who you can trust with anything and everything.

Apurva did not grow up just without her mother but she grew up with resentment toward her mother. Her childhood, I suppose, has been as awful as it could have been. Even though she had her father and aunt, the imprints of the deep emotional wounds that her mother abandoning her brought to her were too stubborn to get wiped by anything or anyone.

I am sure that Dr. Kaushik has been a great father but could he give Apurva that amount of time that she needed back then, especially after her mother refused to be with them? Probably not. As a doctor, he did not have the liberty to be with his daughter as often and for as long as he would have liked.

Sure, Saarika was there but the kind of conflicts that a kid goes through when abandoned by her mother at that age makes everything tougher than it actually is. Perhaps, that was why and how Apurva might have started confiding in her teddies but she probably never realized that it was never about the teddy. It was about the comfort that the teddies brought to her. It was about the calm and peace that the teddies brought to her.

The comfort, calm and peace – that now – her husband brings to her.

It was never about the teddy. It never was.

My heart smiles every time I watch Apurva peacefully fall asleep either on Shashank’s hand or in his arms. She has unconsciously longed for this warmth and sense of security for years. For years. Shashank does not just wrap his arms around. He wraps his protection around her. The invisible protection that not even Apurva can see but her heart knows that it is right there. The protection that wouldn’t allow even a scratch on her. Not now. Not ever.

Shashank is that elixir that would not just heal her heart that is still not whole but also would magically make every scar leave her as well.

The way Shashank almost instantly kept aside his book to give her a head massage to soothe her aching head – we saw for yet another time – what or rather who Mr. Kanitkar’s priority is!

Ishq Hai Woh Ehsaas, Ishq Hai Woh Jazbaat,
Badal De Ye Duniya, Badal De Ye Haalat!
– From ‘Inn Aankhon Mein Tum’ -> Jodha Akbar

Team Appu & Bhaskar Kaka

This team has the potential to win the Cutest Team of the Year Award. No, I am very serious about it. They were so cute together. The glimpse of how Bhaskar was as a boyfriend years ago was so sweet. I genuinely had so much fun watching this particular scene. I love how the creatives added this particular bit. Justifies the bits and pieces they had revealed in the past  – like it was revealed that Bhaskar had jumped from the terrace and all of that. We clearly saw that this man must have done all of that madness back then.

He was legit at Kanitkar’s house to throw the stone to catch his Vidya’s attention.

Apurva’s how thrilling had me choke on water. xD. I wonder if she is going to stand in her balcony, ask Mr. Kanitkar to go down and throw a stone in their room.

And if that happens,

Dada-Kaka will be like – what the heck? Who is going to pay for the new window?

Amey and Kukki will be like – Shashank will. After all, he was the one to break the window.

Shashank will be like – But Apurva asked me to. I have no say when it comes to her stubbornness. How could I say no? ( तिच्या हट्टा पुढे माझं काही चालत नाही. मी नाही कसा म्हणु? )

Mr. Kanitkar and his struggle to say no to his wife is so real. So real. 😂

Team Shashank’s ( particularly in the love aspect) Naive Brain & Shashank’s Intelligent Heart!

I equally loved this team. The competition for the Cutest Team of the Year is so tough. Who wins in your eyes? These two or those two ( Appu & Bhaskar Kaka )?

The vocabulary, the tone and the attitude of Mr. Kanitkar’s heart though! Almost made me rub my eyes to confirm if it was really Mr. Kanitkar.

Mr. Kanitkar’s Intelligent heart persuading him into confessing his feelings and Mr. Kanitkar’s logical mind finding ‘n’ number of excuses not to let him confess was quite interesting to watch. Mr. Kanitkar has an intelligent heart, I swear. He needs to let his heart take a front seat more often.

Netra.

I am skipping her. I am skipping her. I am going to pretend that she wasn’t there in the episode. Sigh. Couldn’t connect at all to say anything.

Maai, Aparna Kaku and Suva Aai!

Here comes my favorite part from the episode. I was genuinely smiling throughout the whole scene. Right from Suva Aai buttering Maai to persuade her into cooking the jackfruit to the idea that Suva Aai gave Apurva.

I was in splits. Literally in splits. Watching the way Suva Aai explained the illogical scenes that ITV shows. I have watched that particular part twice and I can watch it a bunch of times more. It was hilarious.

Mrs. Apurva Vartak Kanitkar.

I am not quite experienced in love and the matters of the heart,
But there is no way on the earth I am deleting Babi Aatya’s happiness that I have added to my cart.
I am ready to pay whatever price that it will demand me to, no matter how expensive it will get,
If the universe doesn’t give my Babi Aatya the signs that she wants then those will be the signs that this Apurva Vartak Kanitkar will create.

This is completely my perspective. You can have a different one. I would love to hear if you do. Like I always say, we can always agree to disagree.

Where do I even begin praising for this right up….which i have been waiting for!!!

The starting i actually re went and read the way you told us and it was fun….have to admit way to much fun!!!
The lukhegiri…. Cracked me🙈

The song from Jodha akbar…wow!!!

I really loved the description of teddy and it’s importance and really liked the way you showed why that teddy was so important for appu and how it’s replaced by those arms of protection!!

Though it is difficult to choose between the two cutest teams…but just because that intelligent heart said ya khadus la ti shisht avdyla lagi ahe…..and Mr. Kanitkar calling himself khadus….made me choose this team….as this team is here in the show to stay for long as well!!!

Beautifully written ❣️❣️

Loved the review. Though whenever it comes to Netra, I always have mixed feelings. I have often seen both her and Apurva as being two extremes of childhood trauma. Netra, for me, always seems to project her insecurity towards her mother leaving her as a child for Apurva, comparing the same situation with the one in present with Shashank. To be honest, it might not even completely be about Shashank, but the feeling that the love which she always believed was rightfully hers (her own mother’s prominently) was given to Apurva. Added to that, the fact that her own father poisoned her mind against her own mother growing up has made her bitter and resentful towards her and her whole family in general. This, in no way, is justification of her actions as an adult. It’s just, it’s easy to empathise with Apurva saying she is the way she is because of the way she has grown up. But if that’s the case, the same. to a considerable degree applies to Netra as well, which is why, there is a part of me that hopes she is capable of redemption as well somewhere down the road by improving her relationship with everyone, especially her sister
