Thipkyanchi Rangoli – Episode 196 – Written Update and Episode Review

W H A T   H A P P E N E D   I N   T H E   E P I S O D E ?

The episode begins with Shashank telling Apurva that people who start to understand each other cannot hide anything from each other as they just get to know what the other person is thinking even without them actually saying it. When Apurva shrugs it off, refusing to believe him, he tries to show her an example by guessing what she is thinking about at the moment. He says that she has been thinking about when she will take her teddy and sleep.

She shakes her head and states that she has come back because she does not want to disturb Babi Aatya now that everything is sorted which causes Shashank’s smile to fade as he gets disheartened. She asks him if he missed her when she wasn’t in the room. He nods, adding that he did miss her a bit, at times. She repeats the same, telling him that she missed too, a bit, at times but not him but her teddy. He smiles and forwards his hand, telling her that the teddy is at her service. She takes his hand as they get into the bed.

Apurva shares how she could not sleep properly in Babi Aatya’s room. Shashank says, he knows it – that because of not having her teddy, she must have struggled to which she again shakes her head and states that she would wake up every now and then to check if Babi Aatya was sleeping peacefully or not since she was constantly worried about her. She says that it must be hard to live alone. Shashank hums.

Apurva asks him if she will have to go through the same suffering and pain when they will part ways after a year. Her question catches him off-guard but he is quick to ask her why she would have to deal with any pain! He adds that pain will come if there is love and asks her if she loves him. She replies that she does not know and sleeps while he reminisces the moments that they have spent together.

The next day, Apurva stubbornly makes everyone take a break and applies a face pack to all of them so that they can relax. When Dada-Kaka sees the whole thing, he reprimands them but Maai asks him to leave if he does not want to apply the face pack and makes everyone sit and enjoy the face pack.

Apurva persuades Dada-Kaka in putting on the face pack, assuring him that nobody would see him in it. She promises to take it off before anyone comes there. He agrees but gets surprised when she does not respond after a while when he starts calling her to take it off. He takes off the cucumber pieces only to find everyone standing in front of him and glaring at him. He sheepishly smiles and makes excuses that he put it on only on Apurva’s insistence because he did not want to upset her.

The Kanitkars share some light moments until Dr. Kaushik and Dr. Anjali visit them. They turn to hide their faces from the duo, making the duo raise their brows as they fail to understand what’s going on. Apurva tells him that they have applied the face pack and are shy. They eventually turn around and Dr. Anjali starts laughing as she comments if it is their age to do all of those things. Apurva steps in and asks her if she has the copyright on looking good. She asks her why she goes to the parlor every week if this is not the age for these things. Dr. Anjali responds by saying that she does it on her own money, unlike Kanitkars who are troubling her daughter. Apurva gets annoyed and reminds her that she is their daughter-in-law as well and they have applied the face pack because she asked them to.

Dr. Kaushik expresses his joy upon seeing how much Apurva thinks about her people but expresses his disappointment over how she never applied a face pack on his face. Everyone laughs and Vitthu Baba asks him to settle down and get it done right away.

Shashank comes down and gets shocked to see everyone’s faces. When he asks them what’s happening, Apurva tells him that everyone has applied a face pack. She asks him to sit so that she can apply it on his face as well as it will cool his mind. Everyone bursts out laughing and Shashank stares at his crazy wife and her weird antics.

Couldn’t have asked for more than what I got in this one!

From Apurva’s subtle realization that she has to go after a year and her question to Shashank if she would experience the same painful loneliness as Babi Aatya did to the whole face pack session – a perfect stress-buster episode with the slight touch of some intense emotions!

If there is something that Mr. Kanitkar’s heart has silently thanked Netra for then it has to be the beautiful words that she had come up with for the ones in love at the wedding! They might have gotten him slightly uneasy back then because of the context that she had used them in but his heart had to unconsciously steal those words as they had sounded so magically gorgeous when it put them for the one it adored.

Its favorite person to hang out with. Its favorite person to sleep with. Its favorite person to chill with.

Apurva Vartak Kanitkar – his heart’s favorite person!

Not just his better half,
But also his favorite person to make laugh.
The one he had fallen deeply in love with,
And the one who has changed his perspective that used to believe that love was a myth.

“Apurva, when two people come to know and understand each other – they can’t hide anything from each other. They can read each other’s minds.”

Can you read between the lines, Apurva? I so wish that you can. I don’t want you to read my mind though but can you please… just close your eyes, put on the specs that will blur your vision of everyone else especially that cousin sister of yours who somehow keeps entering our conversation in some way or the other and will keep your focus on solely and solely my heart that has your tales written on every page of its book that it has started writing ever since it stumbled upon you. It has preciously treasured all of the beautiful moments that it has lived with you and it can’t wait to tell you that it cannot imagine living even a day of its life without you being around. 

Mr. Kanitkar’s smile fades faster than a child’s obsession whenever he has to hear that he hasn’t been on Mrs. Kanitkar’s mind. How excited he was while sharing what he thought was going on in her mind and why she has returned to the room and how genuinely saddened he was when she said that she came back because she did not want to disturb Babi Aatya now that everything is settled down.

Mrs. Kanitkar seeking fun at Mr. Kanitkar’s plight is a sight that makes me both, smile and sad. Smile because Mrs. Kanitkar has come to understand precisely what Mr. Kanitkar wants to hear and she deliberately teases him by not blessing him with the words that he is longing for. Sad because Mr. Kanitkar’s heart sinks – so quickly and innocently.

“I missed the teddy.”
“Okay, then your teddy is right at your service, Ma’am!”

Mr. Kanitkar and his endearing ways of pampering his wife are becoming my favorite. Can’t get over this man’s words and gestures. Mr. Husband Kanitkar stands unbeatable.

The smiling faces when finally she reunited with her teddy though! So wholesome! Their overwhelming joy would make anyone feel that these two have been madly in love with each other for ages. Even if the world was to end at that moment, Mr. and Mrs. Kanitkar wouldn’t give a damn.

“Khadoos, when we will part ways after a year… would I also have to suffer this same pain?”

The unexpected question had him raise his hand to his head as it was bound to unsettle him but he hadn’t expected it to be so severe. It had him try and imagine how life would be without her after a year and the imagination was more frightening than the worst nightmare that he had seen in his life.

“Why would you go through anything? Pain comes when there is love. Do you love me?”

The way his gaze was stuck at her throughout his explanation and even after it – I almost felt like his heart was back to its attempts to urge her to let it see – just once – let it hear – just once – that she wishes to tear the contract papers into pieces and burn them like they never existed – that she wishes to continue doing her childish tricks to gain his attention for the rest of the life – that she wishes for him to find her and let her seek comfort in his arms when she is low for the rest of the life – that she wishes to feed him honey to make him sweetly talk to her for the rest of the life!

Just once!

That he stays and will stay the only person she would ever allow herself to hold. 

That he stays and will stay the only person she would ever abandon her teddy for.

That he stays and will stay the only person she would ever allow herself to love the way a wife loves her husband.

Just once!

“I don’t know.”

The thing to concentrate on here is not the fact that she did not say that she loves him but the fact that she said that she does not know. I genuinely didn’t expect that. I thought that she would just shrug him off and say that she does not love him and stuff like that but the fact that she actually confessed that she does not know is everything.

When the realization will come is a whole different thing but can we just appreciate Mrs. Kanitkar’s honesty here?

Apurva, the face pack and the Kanitkars!

A beautiful, beautiful scene! Endearing and entertaining! In a home where everyone is busy working, Apurva’s presence is like that mild fragrance of incense sticks that almost instantly relaxes you whenever you stand close to it. This woman is everything. Caring for your people never gets old. Showering your people with love and affection never goes out of fashion. Why Apurva will stay a woman to remember! She will light up her whole house even when she herself is drowning in darkness. There is no way on the earth why I wouldn’t send virtual hugs and flying kisses to her.

This woman has had and still has her fair share of struggles and she still has that sweetness in her that does not let anyone hold her bitterly in their thoughts. Of course, except for the one who shall not be named.

Dada-Kaka’s entry, his denial and eventual acceptance were hilarious. From the very beginning to the very end. It was HILARIOUS.

The wide smile on Dada-Kaka’s face when Maai mentioned about Usha though! xD. This couple is literally the cutest one out there. Their bond is so genuinely precious. Even after so many years of marriage, they still have their spark in their relationship.

The betrayal that he got from Apurva though! She legit promised not to let anyone see him in the face pack. I can’t imagine his shock upon seeing the whole Kanitkar family glaring at him like that. Haha. I was in splits to be honest the way that whole bit was shot.

Dr. Anjali Vartak amuses me every single time. I like when she appears because she is a constant reminder of the different kinds of people that we have around us. It will be judgmental to label them as good or bad. Everyone behaves the way they think is right. She leaves no chance to taunt Kanitkars and her daughter leaves no chance to counter her back every single time to stand for Kanitkars against her own mother. Different people. Different perspectives.

But in the whole thing, something that always makes me smile is how Kanitkars respond to the whole thing. I think, it would have been so easy for at least some of them to get upset with Apurva and unconsciously hold her responsible and blame her for what her mother blurts out every time she visits but none of them – I repeat, none of them – ever connects Dr. Anjali’s words to Apurva. Neither do they take Anjali Vartak seriously nor do they let Apurva hold the guilt of how her mother humiliates them time and again.

The patience of Kanitkars is something to aspire to.
