Uss Haq Se – Ishk Par Zor Nahi

“Chale jaaiyie, Sir.”

“Nahi jaunga. Kahi nahi jaunga. Yahi rukunga aur tumhe protect karunga.”

“Kis haq se?”

He emptied the beer bottle before hurling it across his bed as her three words refused to leave him alone.

Kis haq se?

Three words. Three mere words but they tortured him more than even a billion other words ever could.

Kis haq se?

The question was simple but stupid. Maybe not on her part but on his receiving end, it seemed stupid to him.

He struggled to keep his drowsy eyes that were the under the effect of alcohol open as he rose to his stumbling feet.

He somehow made it to the dressing table where his phone was. He grabbed his phone in his shaky hold and went inside several folders in a folder that he hadn’t touched in the past six months.

He clicked on the CCTV footage from the night she had accidentally gotten drunk and paused on the moment that she had confessed to being the best moment of her life.

He turned the phone toward the mirror.

“Kis haq se? Usne pucha… kis haq se? Tum abhi bhi ho na iske andar? Tum bata dogi ise please? Main to tumhe hi samajh nahi paaya tha. I used to think… purani Ishqi is my weakest subject but nayi Ishqi is next level. Completely out of syllabus.”

He flipped the phone toward himself when his fingers couldn’t resist the urge to trace her face through the phone screen.

“Tu-m-he to pa…ta hai na… kis haq se?” He stuttered as his conversation with the old Ishqi began.

The old Ishqi whose existence he himself had brought to its end.

The old Ishqi whose smile he himself had made to die a brutal death.

The old Ishqi – whom he himself had killed.

He hissed when a piece of the beer bottle that he had broken pierced his toe but it didn’t last for more than a moment. He dragged himself out of his room to the poolside without caring about his bleeding toe.

With every step that he took, the piece dug deeper into his skin but he was not in the present moment to feel it let aside bother about it.

His leg refused to carry his weight, causing him to slip to the ground right in front of the pool.

He grinned when he looked at his phone which was safe. He could fall a zillion times but he couldn’t let that phone fall because she was in it.

How could he let her fall? He never had and he never would.

He steadied himself, and made numerous failed attempts to stand but gave up soon.

Placing his phone in his lap, he comfortably settled on the ground.

Kis haq se puch rahi thi wo, pata hai tumhe.” He chuckled, sharing the tales of his heart with the one he had started to believe back then to be someone who understood him like no other.

“Uss haq se jis haq se lift band padne par usne mujhe bulaya tha. Uss haq se jis haq se main uske ghar gaya tha jab Maasi hospital me thi. Uss haq se jis haq se usne mujhe apna khayal rakhne diya tha. Uss haq se jis haq se usne mujhe apne aap ko protect karne diya tha. Uss haq se jis haq se uski aankhein mujhe unka dard padhne deti thi. Uss haq se!”

Kis haq se?

Uss haq se!

Karza Hai, Ashko Ka, Iss Ishq Mein,
Fir Bhi Kyun, Lagta Gham, Dilchasp Hai!
