“Galti ho gayi. Jaan bujhke nahi kiya. I am sorry, Ishqi!”
He didn’t dare to meet her gaze but he didn’t dare to let go of her hand either. The fear of losing her had left him paranoid enough to contemplate if he let her hand slip out of his hold, would she slip out of his life too?
His mind had been continuously thinking about Rhea’s revelation in the hospital but his heart had stubbornly refused to even consider the possibility. He couldn’t do that, could he?
How could he?
Overhearing Rhea and her mother had made a deep crack in his heart’s belief.
Just when he had begun to pick flowers to spread their fragrance in his and Ishqi’s life, the dark magic of fate had turned those flowers into vicious thorns that were going to prick the delicate skin of his marriage for the rest of his life.
Or perhaps, they were going to tear down that skin and the damage was going to be irreversible.
“Tumhe bharosa hai na mujhpar?”
“Agar bharosa nahi hota to main yaha aapke saath nahi hoti!”
He wouldn’t take it seriously for he knew that the moment she would stand in front of the truth, her trust was bound to come crumbling down and their little happy universe, crashing down.
He had already put her through the amount of suffering that if he had been put through by anyone – he might have never turned back to that person let aside forgetting everything and accept not just the apology but also the love the way she had.
Fate had screamed aloud the worst joke that it could have at his expense and had been mocking him since then.
She would ask him tomorrow what he was apologizing for that had disturbed him enough to drown himself in alcohol like never before and he didn’t have enough courage to let her have that answer.
For how long was he going to be able to cover her ears with the earplugs of his love and block that sound from her reach?
“Dil Par Toota Hai Kaisa Kahar,
Tumko Pakar Khone Ka Hain Darr!”
